J 26900-6 Dial Caliper

Notice: When disassembling the upper valve body, keep all valve springs, spring seats and plugs with their respective valves. Most valve springs are of different sizes and CANNOT be interchanged. Make sure all parts are clean and dry before assembly.

1. Remove the manual valve and the manual valve link from the upper valve body.



2. Remove the following components from the valve body (1):

•	One key (7)

•	The secondary regulator valve plug (8)

•	The secondary regulator valve (9)

•	The secondary regulator valve spring (10)

3. Remove the following components from the upper valve body:

•	One key (3)

•	The lock-up relay valve sleeve (4)

•	The lock-up relay valve spring (5)

•	The lock-up relay valve (6)

4. Remove the throttle valve cam assembly (2) from the upper valve body.



5. Remove the following components from the upper valve body (8):

•	One key (19)

•	The downshift plug (20)

•	The downshift plug spring (18)

•	The throttle valve (17)

6. Remove the following components from the upper valve body:

•	One key (16)

•	The check valve plug (15)

•	The reverse shift restrict ball (14)

•	The check valve (13)

7. Remove the following components from the upper valve body:

•	One key (12)

•	The 3-4 shift valve plug (11)

•	The 3-4 shift valve spring (10)

•	The 3-4 shift valve (9)

8. Remove the following components from the upper valve body:

•	One key (7)

•	The check valve plug (6)

•	The reverse shift restrict ball (5)

•	The check valve (4)

9. Remove the following components from the upper valve body, if equipped:

•	The throttle valve adjusting screw retainer (3)

•	The throttle valve adjusting screw (2)

•	The throttle valve adjusting screw spring (1)

10. Clean all of the upper valve body components and dry thoroughly.
11. Inspect the following components for cracks, scoring or other damage, and replace as necessary:

•	All of the valves

•	All of the valve springs

•	All of the upper valve body valve bores




12. Use the J 26900-6 in order to measure the free length and the outer coil diameter of all the upper valve body valve springs. Refer to Control Valve Upper Body Spring Specifications .

•	3-4 shift valve spring (1)

•	Down shift plug spring (2)

•	Lock-up relay valve spring (3)

•	Secondary regulator valve spring (4)

•	Throttle valve spring (5)

13. If the spring free length is not as specified, replace as necessary.



14. Use the J 26900-6 to measure the upper valve body valve key sizes of each valve key.
