98 - 02 Prizm with a SES Light due to DTC P0440 , P0441 and / or P0446 - kw 1.8 CEL EVAP hose LV6 MIL solenoid valve vacuum

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

SES light due to DTCS P0440, P0441 and / or P0446

If the SI diagnostics did not isolate the root cause and this condition began after underhood repairs, inspect the hoses at the EVAP purge valve to make sure that they are not reversed. The hose that contains the EVAP test port with the green cap should be connected to the bottom port (next to electrical connector) of the EVAP purge valve. The hose that supplies vacuum to the EVAP purge valve should be connected to the top port of the EVAP purge valve.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
