Tools Required
• | J 26568 Coolant
Tester (Centigrade Scale) |
• | J 23688 Coolant
Tester (Fahrenheit Scale) |
Important: Use a hydrometer in order to accurately measure the coolant.
Use a refractometer in order to measure the coolant when the type and
quality of the coolant is unknown.
Important: Do not remove the clear plastic pump from the J 26568
or the J 23688
.
- Before each use, swing the plastic cover at the slanted end of the J 26568
or the J 23688
.
Be sure to expose the measuring window and the bottom of the plastic
cover.
- Use a tissue or a clean, soft cloth in order to wipe the cover
dry.
- Close the plastic cover.
- Release the tip of the pump from the tester.
- Insert the tip of the
pump into the radiator filler neck.
Ensure that the tip of the pump is below the coolant level.
- Press the release bulb in order to procure a sample of the coolant.
- Insert the tip of the pump into the cover plate opening.
Important: Do not open the plastic cover when reading the coolant. Water evaporation
may change the readings.
- Press the bulb in order to allow a few drops to fall onto the measuring
surface.
- Point the J 26568
or the J 23688
toward any light source.
- Look into the eyepiece in order to view the following readings:
• | The coolant protection reading |
• | The coolant protection reading is at the point where the dividing line
between light and dark crosses the scale. |
• | The antifreeze protection is indicated by the scale on the right. |
• | The temperature reading |
• | The temperature scale is reversed from a standard thermometer scale.
Below zero readings are on the upper half of the scale. |
- Complete the following steps if the readings are not clear:
11.1. | Wipe the surfaces dry. |
