Removal Procedure
- Remove the engine cover
(1).
- Remove the ignition coils
(1, 2, 3, 4).
- Disconnect the following components from the cylinder head cover:
• | The two positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hoses |
- Remove the following components
from the cylinder head:
• | The cylinder head cover (1) (with the gasket) |
Installation Procedure
Important: Use a new cylinder head cover gasket and new seal washers whenever the
cylinder head cover replacement procedure is performed.
Ensure that the new gasket and the new seal washers are correctly positioned
during the cylinder head cover installation.
- Install the new cylinder head cover gasket to the cylinder head cover.
- Install the new seal washers to the cylinder head cover.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the cylinder
head cover to the cylinder head. Secure the cover using nine bolts and two
nuts (1, 2, 3).
Tighten
Tighten the cylinder head cover bolts and nuts to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
- Install the ignition coils
(1, 2, 3, 4).
- Reconnect the following components to the cylinder head cover:
• | The two positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hoses |
- Install the engine cover
(1).
