Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the following components:
| • | The two bolts |
| • | The two nuts |
| • | The trailing arm (1) |
Installation Procedure
- Install the trailing arm (1) to the vehicle. Secure the trailing arm using 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Stabilize the suspension by bouncing the vehicle up and down several times in order to allow the suspension to settle.
- Tighten the trailing arm bolts and nuts.
- Inspect the rear wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.
Important: The weight of the vehicle must be on the tires and wheels before tightening the nuts or the bolts.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the trailing arm bolts and nuts to 91 N·m (67 lb ft).
