J 42450-A Hub Cleaning Kit

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the brake caliper housing (2) and the brake caliper bracket. Refer to Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 238894  Size: SH

    Notice: Use care in order to not damage the boot and the inner oil seal.

    Notice: On vehicles equipped with ABS, use care to not damage the speed sensor rotor of the drive axle.

  5. Remove the brake rotor from the wheel hub.
  6. If you cannot remove the rotor by hand, install 2 8 N·m bolts into the rotor. Tightening the bolts will force the rotor off of the wheel hub.

Installation Procedure

  1. Use the J 42450-A to clean the hub.
  2. Install the brake rotor to the wheel hub.

  3. Object Number: 426840  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the brake caliper bracket (1). Refer to Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement .
  5. Install the tire and wheel assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
