Removal Procedure

  1. Siphon brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  4. Clean any dirt and foreign material from the hose and fittings.
  5. Remove the front brake hose from the front brake pipe.
  6. Remove the following from the front strut:
  7. • The front brake hose retaining bracket
    • The front brake hose retaining bracket bolt
    • The front brake hose
  8. Remove the following from the brake caliper:
  9. • The brake hose bolt
    • The 2 seal washers
    • The brake hose

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the brake hose and the 2 seal washers to the brake caliper. Secure with the brake hose bolt.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 8 N·m (17 lb in).

  3. Install the following to the front strut:
  4. • The front brake hose
    • The front brake hose retaining bracket
    • The front brake hose retaining bracket bolt

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  5. Install the front brake hose to the front brake pipe.
  6. Bleed the brake system.
  7. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .

  8. Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
