Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
  2. Clean the dirt and foreign material from the wheel cylinder and the brake fluid pipe.

  3. Object Number: 239079  Size: SH
  4. Remove the brake pipe from the back of the wheel cylinder. Use a container in order to catch the brake fluid.
  5. Remove the following from the vehicle:
  6. • The 2 bolts
    • The wheel cylinder

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 239079  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the following:
  2. • The 2 bolts
    • The wheel cylinder

    Tighten
    Tighten the wheel cylinder bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  3. Install the brake pipe fitting to the wheel cylinder.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pipe fitting to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  5. Install the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
  6. Bleed the brakes. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding in Hydraulic Brakes.
