A noise or vibration that is noticeable when the vehicle is in motion may not be the result of the transaxle. If a noise or vibration is noticeable in PARK or NEUTRAL with the engine at idle, but is less noticeable as the engine RPM increases, the cause may be from poor engine performance.

1. Inspect the tires for the following conditions:

•	Uneven wear

•

Imbalance

•	Mixed sizes

•	Mixed radial and bias-ply. Refer to Tire Diagnosis - Irregular or Premature Wear in Tires and Wheels.

2. Inspect the suspension components for the following conditions:

•	Misalignment and wear

•	Loose fasteners--Refer to Trim Height Specifications in Front Suspension.

3. Inspect the engine/transaxle mounts for the following conditions:

•	Excessive wear or damage

•	Loose mounting bolts--Refer to Engine Mount Inspection in Engine Mechanical.

4. Inspect the transaxle case mounting holes for the following conditions:

•	Missing bolts, nuts or studs

•	Stripped threads

•

Cracks

5. Inspect the flywheel for the following conditions:

•	Missing or loose bolts

•

Cracks

•	Imbalance--Refer to Flexplate/Torque Converter Vibration Test .

6. Inspect the torque converter for the following conditions:

•	Missing or loose bolts or lugs

•	Missing or loose balance weights

•	Imbalance--Refer to Flexplate/Torque Converter Vibration Test .
