Removal Procedure
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect
the negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the center console. Refer to
Front Floor Console Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages,
and Console.
- Remove the manual selector
illumination lamp (1) from the shift indicator (2).
- Remove 2 screws the shift indicator.
- Reposition the shift indicator in order to gain access to the
shift lock solenoid and the shift lock switch assembly.
- Remove the shift lock
solenoid and the shift lock switch electrical connectors (2, 3)
from shift lock solenoid and shift lock switch assembly.
- Remove the 2 screws
and the shift lock solenoid and shift lock switch assembly (2) from
the manual selector (1).
Installation Procedure
- Install the shift lock
solenoid and shift lock switch assembly (2) to manual selector (1).
Secure with 2 screws.
Important: Upon completion of the shift lock solenoid and the shift lock switch
assembly installation, perform the following steps in order to ensure the
proper operation:
• | Temporarily install the negative (-) battery cable. |
• | When the ignition switch is turned to LOCK, solenoid is NOT energized. |
• | When the ignition switch is turned to ON, and the brake pedal
is not depressed, the solenoid is NOT energized. |
• | When the ignition switch is turned to ON, and the brake pedal
is depressed , the solenoid is energized. |
• | Disconnect negative (-) battery cable. |
- Install the shift lock solenoid and the shift lock switch electrical
connectors (2, 3) to the shift lock solenoid and the shift lock
switch assembly.
- Reposition the shift indicator to its original position.
- Install the 4 screws to the shift indicator.
- Install the manual selector
illumination lamp (1) into the shift indicator (2).
- Install the center console. Refer to
Front Floor Console Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages,
and Console.
- Connect the negative (-) battery cable.
