Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the center console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  3. Remove the shift select cable (2) from the manual selector lever.

    4. Object Number: 428269 Size: SH
  4. Remove the shift select cable (1) from the manual selector base (2).
  5. Remove the BTSI cable.

    6. Object Number: 428274 Size: SH
  6. Remove the OVERDRIVE switch manual selector illumination lamp and shift lock control module electrical connectors (2) from the manual selector.

    7. Object Number: 242834 Size: SH
  7. Remove 4 bolts (2) and the manual selector from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the manual selector into the vehicle. Secure the manual selector with 4 bolts.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the manual selector bolts to 13 N·m (115 lb in).

  2. Install the OVERDRIVE switch (2) manual selector illumination lamp and the shift lock control module electrical connectors to the manual selector (1).
  3. Connect the shift select cable into the manual selector base.
  4. Connect the shift select cable to the manual selector lever.
  5. Connect the BTSI cable.
  6. Install the rear and the center console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
