- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the transaxle oil level/filler plug (1) from the transaxle.
- Inspect the transaxle oil level.
- If the oil level is low, adjust the oil level accordingly by adding Castrol® Syntorq Transmission Fluid GM P/N 12346190 or the equivalent.
- Install the transaxle oil level/filler plug into the transaxle after applying GM P/N 12346004, or the equivalent, in order to plug the threads.
- Lower the vehicle.
Ensure that the oil level is even with the bottom of the transaxle oil level/filler plug hole.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the transaxle oil level/filler plug to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).
