Removal Procedure
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect
the negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the center console. Refer to
Front Floor Console Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages, and
Console.
- Remove the shift indicator
bulb from the shift indicator (2) .
- Remove 4 screws from the shift indicator.
- Reposition the shift indicator in order to gain access to the
shift lock control module.
- Remove the electrical
connectors (2, 3) from the shift lock solenoid and the shift
lock switch assembly (1).
- Remove the electrical
connector (2) from the shift lock control module (1).
- Remove the shift lock control module from the manual selector.
Installation Procedure
- Install the shift lock
control module (1) to the manual selector.
- Install the electrical connector (2) to the shift lock
control module.
- Install the shift lock
solenoid and the shift lock switch assembly electrical connectors (2, 3)
to the shift lock solenoid.
Important: Upon the completion of the shift lock control module installation, perform
the following steps in order to ensure proper operation:
• | Temporarily install the negative (-) battery cable. |
• | When the ignition switch is turned to LOCK, the solenoid is NOT
energized. |
• | When the ignition switch is turned to ON, and the brake pedal
is depressed, the solenoid is energized. |
• | Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable. |
- Install the shift lock solenoid and the shift lock switch assembly electrical
connectors (2, 3) to the shift lock switch assembly.
- Reposition the shift indicator to its original position.
- Install the 4 screws to the shift indicator.
- Install the shift indicator
bulb (1) into the shift indicator (2).
- Install the center console. Refer to
Front Floor Console Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages,
and Console.
- Install the negative (-) battery cable.
