Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 240010 Size: SH

    Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
    In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable the SIR System. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the front side door sill trim plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
  3. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  4. Remove the following components from the vehicle:
    5. • The 2 bolts
    • The front seat shoulder belt retractor tension adjuster (1)

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 240010 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the front seat shoulder belt retractor tension adjuster (1) to the vehicle. Secure the adjuster with the 2 bolts.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the front seat shoulder belt retractor tension adjuster bolts to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  2. Install the center pillar upper trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.

  3. Install the front side door sill trim plate (1) to the vehicle.
  4. Enable the SIR System. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
