Makes 🢒 Chevrolet 🢒 2001 🢒 Prizm 🢒 Restraints 🢒 SIR 🢒 Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle

Removal Procedure

    Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
    In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.

    2. Object Number: 363398 Size: SH
  2. Remove the 3 screws and the steering column lower trim cover (6).
  3. Remove the one screw and the steering column upper trim cover (7).

    4. Object Number: 244317 Size: MH
  4. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder (8).
  5. Turn the key to the ACC position.
  6. Use a screwdriver to push in the stop pin on the underside of the lock cylinder case (7).
  7. Remove the ignition lock cylinder (8) from the ignition lock cylinder case (7).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 244317 Size: MH
  1. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder (8). Ensure that the key is in the ACC position.
  2. Insert the ignition lock cylinder (8) into the ignition lock cylinder case (7) until the stop pin engages.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition lock cylinder.

    4. Object Number: 363398 Size: SH
  4. Install the steering column upper trim cover (7). Secure with 1 screw.
  5. Install the steering column lower trim cover (6). Secure with 3 screws.
  6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
