Verify that the stop lamps are inoperative.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Apply pressure to the brake pedal, to activate the stoplamp switch.
  2. Using a test lamp, check the stoplamp switch cavity 1 to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

  1. Connect a fused jumper wire on the stoplamp switch connector between cavity 2 and cavity 1.
  2. Using a test lamp, check the junction block 1, C6 cavity 8 to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Using a test lamp, check the junction block 1 C5 cavity 7 to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Repair the open in the GRN/WHT wire between the stoplamp switch cavity 1 and the junction block 1, C6 cavity 6. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 12

Using a test lamp, check the stoplamp switch cavity 2 to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Replace the stoplamp switch. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.

Repair the open in the RED/WHT wire between the stoplamp switch and the junction block 2, C3 cavity 7. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the replacement complete?

Repair the open in the GRN/WHT wire between the junction block 1, C5 cavity 7 and SP450. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the junction block 1.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
