Did you review the Radio/Audio System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the radio on.
  3. Using the balance and fade controls, verify that one or more speakers are inoperative.

Do all four speakers operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Does the LF Speaker operate?

Go to Step 4

Does the RF Speaker operate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

Does the LR Speaker operate?

Go to Step 6

Does the RR Speaker operate?

Go to Step 14

Replace the inoperative speaker with a known good speaker. Refer to Radio Front Side Door Speaker Replacement for access.

Did the replacement speaker correct the problem?

Go to Step 11

Replace the inoperative speaker with a known good speaker. Refer to Radio Rear Speaker Replacement .

Did the replacement speaker correct the problem?

  1. Disconnect the Radio connector. Refer to Radio Replacement for access.
  2. Test for a short to ground or an open condition in the inoperative speaker circuit.

Did you find a short to ground or an open condition in the inoperative speaker circuit?

Go to Step 10

Repair the short to ground or open condition in the inoperative speaker circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 14

Replace the speaker. Refer to Radio Front Side Door Speaker Replacement .

Replace the speaker. Refer to Radio Rear Speaker Replacement .

Replace the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .
