The remote control door lock receiver is located under the left side of the instrument panel. The receiver performs the functions of interpreting the signals from the transmitter and relaying the information to the multifunction alarm. The receiver does not directly control any functions but is a interpreter for the transmitter to tell the multifunction alarm what is requested. The receiver is able to receive signals from up to four transmitters, and must be programmed to accept signals from any transmitters that are to be added or replaced.
The transmitter unit is a battery powered, water resistant, radio frequency signal generator. Two transmitters are provided with each vehicle. The receiver is capable of recognizing up to four transmitters. Replacement transmitters for the vehicle may be obtained, however the receiver must be reprogrammed to accept the new transmitter.
The Remote Keyless Entry system will execute the following functions in response to pressing the buttons on the transmitter. The transmitter should be held 10 m (30 ft) or less from the vehicle for consistent operation.
• | Pressing the unlock button (2) once will unlock the driver's door, turn on the dome lamp, and flash the park lamps twice. |
• | Pressing the unlock button (2) a second time within 2.0 seconds will unlock all doors. |
• | Pressing the lock button (1) will lock all doors, turn off the dome lamp, and flash the park lamps once. |
The remote control door lock receiver receives battery voltage from the DOME fuse through Junction Block 1 to terminal 8 of the receiver connector.
The receiver receives ground from G200 to terminal 1 of the receiver connector.
The remote control door lock receiver sends LOCK and UNLOCK output signals to the multifunction alarm through the splices from the door lock switch to the multifunction alarm.
