Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 245084  Size: SH
  1. Raise and suitably support the hood.
  2. Remove the hood secondary catch and primary latch. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement .
  3. Gently pry the hood primary latch release cable handle (4) from the knee bolster trim (1) using a taped flat bladed screwdriver.

  5. Remove the hood primary latch release cable (1) from the hood primary latch release cable handle.

  6. Object Number: 431898  Size: SH
  7. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  8. Remove the following components from the vehicle:
  9. • The 6 bolts
    • The 8 plastic retainers
    • The left front wheelhouse panel liner (1)
  10. Lower the vehicle.

  12. Attach a piece of mechanic's wire (1) to both ends of the hood primary latch release cable (2).

  13. Object Number: 431899  Size: SH
  14. Pull the cable (1) from the grommet (2) and out of the interior of the vehicle.

  15. Object Number: 431893  Size: SH
  16. Unclip the input air temperature sensor wiring harness (2) from the hood latch support bracket (1).
  17. Remove the hood primary latch release cable from the vehicle.

  19. Remove the mechanic's wire (1) from the cable (2). Leave the mechanic's wire (1) in position to aid in the cable (2) installation process.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 240889  Size: SH
  1. Attach the mechanic's wire (1) to the hood primary latch release cable (2).
  2. Guide the hood primary latch release cable into the vehicle with mechanic's wire (1).
  3. Remove the mechanic's wire (1) from the hood primary latch release cable (2).

  4. Object Number: 432029  Size: SH
  5. Install the hood primary latch release cable (1) to the hood primary latch release cable handle.

  6. Object Number: 245084  Size: SH
  7. Install the hood primary latch release cable handle (4) to the knee bolster trim (1).

  8. Object Number: 240889  Size: SH
  9. Guide the cable (2) into position and remove the mechanic's wire (1).

  10. Object Number: 239165  Size: SH
  11. Install the hood primary latch release cable (1) to the hood secondary catch and primary latch (2).
  12. Install the hood secondary catch and primary latch. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement .

  13. Object Number: 431893  Size: SH
  14. Install the input air temperature sensor wiring harness (2) to the hood latch support bracket (1).

  15. Object Number: 431898  Size: SH
  16. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  17. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  18. Install the left front wheelhouse panel liner (1) to the vehicle. Secure the panel with the 6 bolts and 8 plastic retainers.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the wheelhouse panel liner bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  20. Lower the vehicle
  21. Lower the hood.
