Schematic Reference: Outside Rearview Mirror Schematics

Did you review the Outside Mirror Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Go to Symptoms - Doors

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2. Operate the outside rear view mirror switch to the Left, Right, Up, and Down positions for both mirrors.

Do the mirrors operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Disconnect the outside rear view mirror switch connector.
2. Connect a test lamp between cavity 9 and ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 7

Test the BRN/RED wire between the outside rear view mirror switch connector and cavity 2 of either outside rear view mirror connector for a high resistance or an open condition. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 5

Test the ground circuit of the outside rear view mirror switch for a high resistance or an open condition. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 6

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the outside rear view mirror switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 8

Repair the open in the GRY wire between the connector and junction block 3. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 9

Replace the outside rearview mirror switch. Refer to Power Mirror Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 9

Operate the system to verify the repair.
