Did you review the Outside Mirror Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Operate the Left outside rear view mirror switch to the Left, Right, Up, and Down positions.

Do the mirrors operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Can the power mirror move in any direction?

Go to Step 4

Can the power mirror move left and right?

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect the LH front outside rearview mirror assembly connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between cavity 3 and ground.

When you activate the switch to the DOWN position does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the LT GRN wire between the outside rearview mirror switch and the mirror assembly for a high resistance or an open condition. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the LH front power mirror Assembly connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between cavity 1 and ground.

When you activate the switch to the LEFT position does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the BLU wire between the outside rearview mirror switch and the mirror assembly for a high resistance or an open condition. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Disconnect the LH front outside rearview mirror assembly connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between cavity 2 and ground.

When you activate the switch to the UP position does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the BRN/RED wire between the outside rearview mirror switch and the mirror assembly for a high resistance or an open condition. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
