Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 626786 Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear side door trim. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Pull the water deflector (3) far enough away to gain access to the door lock mounting bolt.

  3. Disconnect the power door lock actuator electrical connector (2), if equipped.

    4. Object Number: 626817 Size: SH
  4. Remove the door locking rod (2) from the door lock knob linkage.

    5. Object Number: 626832 Size: SH
  5. Unclip the following components from the door (6):
    6. • The inside handle rod (4)
    • The door locking rod (3)
  6. Gently pry the door lock rod protector (2) loose from the door (6).
  7. Remove the following components from the door (6):
    8. • The 3 screws (5)
    • The bolt
    • The door lock (1) with the rods (3, 4) attached.
  8. Remove the inside handle rod (4) from the door lock (1), if necessary.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the inside handle rod (4) to the door lock (1), if removed.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Install the rear door lock (1) to the door (6). Secure the door lock with the 3 screws (5) and the bolt.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the door lock bolt to 5 N·m (43 lb in).

  3. Install the door lock rod protector (2) to the door (6).
  4. Install the following components to the door retainers:
    5. • The inside handle rod (4)
    • The door locking rod (3)

  5. Install the door locking rod (2) to the door lock knob linkage.

    6. Object Number: 626830 Size: SH
  6. Connect the power door lock actuator electrical connector (2), if equipped.

    7. Object Number: 626786 Size: SH
  7. Reposition the water deflector (3) to the door.
  8. Install the rear side door trim. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
