J 35447 Decklid Torsion Bar Remover and Installer

Caution:  When a rear compartment lid hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

1. Remove the rear compartment lid hinge torque rod (2) from the rear compartment lid hinge torque rod retaining support (1).



2. Install the J 35447 to the rear compartment lid hinge (2).



3. Push down on the J 35447 .
4. Pull the rear compartment lid hinge (2) from the torque rod (1).



5. Slowly lift up on the J 35447 .
6. Remove the torque rod (1) from the torque rod bracket.
7. Repeat the above procedure for the second torque rod, if necessary.

1. Install the rear compartment lid hinge torque rod (2) to the torque rod bracket (1).
2. Install the J 35447 onto the opposite side of the torque rod.
3. Slowly lift the torque rod up using the J 35447 .
4. Install the torque rod into the torque rod bracket.



5. Slowly push the J 35447 down.
6. Install the torque rod (1) to the rear compartment lid hinge.
7. Install the torque rod to the rear compartment lid hinge torque rod retaining support.
8. Repeat the above procedure for the second torque rod, if removed.
