Removal Procedure
- Remove the wheelhousing. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
- Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector (1).
- Remove the nut and clips retaining the wheel speed sensor pigtail harness (1).
- Remove the wheel speed sensor retaining bolt (2) and remove the wheel speed sensor (1) from the steering knuckle.
Important: The wheel speed sensor is serviceable only as an assembly. Do NOT attempt to service the sensor harness pigtail.
Installation Procedure
- Install the wheel speed sensor (2) to the steering knuckle. Secure with 1 bolt.
- Connect the wheel speed wiring harness (1) to the vehicle. Secure with nut and clips.
- Connect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector (1).
- Install the wheelhousing. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
- Perform Diagnostic System Check - ABS .
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the front wheel speed sensor bolt to 8 N·m (69 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the pigtail harness nut to 5 N·m (48 lb in).
