Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 240005  Size: SH

    Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
    In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Reposition the front seat belt lower anchor bolt trim cover to the side.
  3. Remove the front seat belt (1) lower anchor bolt.

  5. Remove the front side door sill trim plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
  6. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  7. Remove the front seat shoulder belt guide adjuster (1) trim cover and the bolt.

  9. Remove the following components from the vehicle:
  10. • The 3 screws (1)
    • The center pillar reinforcement (2)

  11. Disconnect the pretensioner electrical connector.

  12. Object Number: 240008  Size: SH
  13. Remove the following components from the vehicle:
  14. • The 2 bolts (1)
    • The front seat belt retractor (2)

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 240008  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the front seat belt retractor (2) to the vehicle. Secure the retractor with the 2 bolts (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the front seat belt retractor upper mounting bolt to 4.9 N·m (43 lb in) and the front seat belt retractor lower mounting bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  3. Connect the pretensioner electrical connector.

  4. Object Number: 328659  Size: SH
  5. Install the center pillar reinforcement (2) to the center pillar. Secure the reinforcement with the 3 screws (1).

  6. Object Number: 240007  Size: SH
  7. Install the front seat shoulder belt guide adjuster (1) bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the front seat shoulder belt guide adjuster bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  9. Install the front seat shoulder belt guide trim cover.

  10. Object Number: 241645  Size: SH
  11. Install the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  12. Install the front side door sill trim plate (1) to the vehicle.

  13. Object Number: 240005  Size: SH
  14. Install the front seat belt (1) lower anchor bolt.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the front seat belt lower anchor bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  16. Reposition the front seat belt lower anchor bolt trim cover onto the bolt.
  17. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
