GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Inspect the TV cable for deflection or looseness.
  2. Inspect the throttle valve position. Verify that the valve is fully closed.

  3. Object Number: 242947 Size: SH
  4. Measure the TV cable boot-to-inner cable stopper (4) clearance with a feeler gage. If the clearance is more than 1.0 mm (0.04 in), adjust the TV cable.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Adjust the TV cable boot-to-inner cable stopper clearance by turning the TV cable adjustment nuts (1, 2) until a clearance of 1.0 mm (0.04 in) has been reached. You may also use the accelerator cable adjustment nuts in order to adjust the TV cable boot-to-inner cable stopper clearance, if further adjustment on the TV cable adjustment nuts is not available.
  7. Tighten
Tighten the TV cable locknut and adjust the nut to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
