  1. Use the following steps in order to install the timing chain tensioner:
  2. 1.1. Fully depress the plunger (4).
    1.2. Apply the hook (2) to the pin (3).
    1.3. Install the timing chain tensioner.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the timing chain tensioner. Secure the timing chain tensioner using 2 bolts (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the timing chain tensioner bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise one revolution. Ensure that the plunger on the timing chain tensioner has released.

  6. Object Number: 234407  Size: SH
  7. Complete the following steps if the plunger does not release:
  8. 4.1. Use a screwdriver or your finger in order to press the slipper into the chain tensioner.
    4.2. Release the hook from the pin.
