Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 3786  Size: SH
  3. Remove the oil pump bolt.
  4. Remove the oil pump from the engine.

  5. Object Number: 3788  Size: SH
  6. Remove the oil pump drive shaft and the retainer.
  7. Inspect the retainer for the oil pump drive shaft for cracks.
  8. Replace the retainer if necessary.

  9. Inspect the mating surfaces between the engine and the oil pump.
  10. It must be clean and free of burrs.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 3788  Size: SH
  1. Heat the oil pump drive shaft retainer in hot water.
  2. Install the oil pump drive shaft retainer onto the oil pump drive shaft.

  3. Object Number: 3790  Size: SH
  4. Install the oil pump drive shaft into the oil pump.

  5. Object Number: 3787  Size: SH
  6. Install the oil pump to the engine.

  7. Object Number: 3786  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the oil pump bolt to the rear main bearing cap.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 44 N·m (32 lb ft).

  10. Install the engine oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement Oil Pan Replacement
