Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle CB Series
Removal Procedure
- Remove the power steering pump from the vehicle. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Replacement
.
- Remove the pump retaining
clips (2).
- Remove the reservoir assembly (1) from the pump housing
assembly.
- Remove the O-ring seal from the pump housing assembly.
Discard the O-ring seal.
Installation Procedure
Important: Use new O-ring seal when assembling the power steering pump assembly.
- Lubricate the O-ring seal using power steering fluid.
- Install the O-ring seal to the pump housing assembly.
- Install the reservoir
assembly (1) to the pump housing assembly.
- Install the pump retaining clips (2) to the pump housing
assembly.
- Install the power steering pump. Refer to

Removal Procedure
- Remove the power steering pump from the vehicle. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Replacement
.
- Drain the power steering
fluid from the power steering pump.
- Remove the pump mounting studs (2).
- Remove the connector and fitting assembly (4).
- Remove the O-ring seal (3).
- Remove the reservoir assembly (1)
from the pump housing assembly (2).
- Remove the O-ring seals (1,4,5).
- Remove the magnet (3).
- Clean the magnet (3).
Important:
• | Do not remove the welch plug. |
• | If the welch plug is deformed or dislodged, replace the power
steering pump housing (2). |
- Inspect the welch plug in the power steering pump housing (2).
Installation Procedure
Important: Use new O-ring seals when assembling the power steering pump assembly.
- Lubricate the O-ring seals (1,4,5) using power steering fluid.
- Install the O-ring seals (1,4,5) to the pump housing assembly.
- Install the magnet (3) to the pump housing assembly (2).
- Connect the reservoir
assembly (1) to the pump housing assembly (2).
- Install the O-ring seal.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the connector
and fitting assembly (4) to the pump housing (1).
Install the pump mounting studs (2) to the pump housing (1).
Tighten
• | Tighten the pump mounting studs (2) to 35-80 N·m
(29-59 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the connector and fitting assembly (4) to 75 N·m
(55 lb ft). |
- Install the power steering pump to the vehicle. Refer to
