Rear Bumper Impact Bar Replacement Pick-up
Removal Procedure
- Remove the license plate lamps. Refer to
Rear License Lamp Replacement
in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the nuts and the bolts that retain the
bracket to the bumper.
- Remove the nuts and the bolts that retain the brace to the bumper.
- Remove the bumper impact bar from the vehicle.
- Remove the license plate screws from the bumper.
- Remove the following components that retain the brace to the frame:
- Remove the brace.
- Remove the following components that retain the bracket to the
frame:
- Remove the bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the bracket to the frame.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the following
components that retain the bracket to the frame:
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 90 N·m (66 lb ft).
- Install the brace to the frame.
- Install the following components that retain the brace to the
frame:
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 90 N·m (66 lb ft).
- Install the bumper to the vehicle.
- Install the nuts and the bolts that retain the brace to the bumper.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
- Install the bolts and the nuts that retain the bracket to the
bumper.
Center the bumper between the rear end caps.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
- Install the license plate screws to the bumper.
- Install the license plate lamps. Refer to
Rear License Lamp Replacement
in Lighting Systems.

- Install the bumper impact bar to the vehicle.
- Install the nuts and the bolts that retain the brace to the bumper.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install
the nuts and the bolts that retain the bracket to the bumper.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install the license plate lamps. Refer to
Rear License Lamp Replacement
in Lighting Systems.
- Install the rear bumper step pads. Refer to
Rear Bumper Step Pad Replacement
.
