Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the crankshaft pulley and hub. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer and Hub Replacement .
  2. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 182874  Size: SH
  4. Remove the engine front cover bolts.

  5. Object Number: 175486  Size: SH
  6. Remove the engine front cover and gasket.
  7. Important: Inspect the engine front cover for warping or damage. Replace if needed.

  8. Clean all sealing surfaces.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 182874  Size: SH
  1. Install the engine front cover to the engine block.
  2. Ensure that the engine front cover gasket is properly installed in the groove in the engine front cover.
  3. Install the engine front cover by hand and engage it fully on the alignment dowel pins.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the engine front cover bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the engine front cover bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  7. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .
  8. Install the crankshaft balancer hub and the crankshaft pulley. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer and Hub Replacement .
