Assist Step Replacement Diamond Edition
Removal Procedure
- Remove 6 nuts and 3 U-bolts
securing the assist step assembly to the mounting brackets.
- Remove the plastic end caps from the assist step assembly if required.
2.1. | Remove the 3 screws from the assist step assembly. |
2.2. | Remove the plastic end cap by pulling the cap straight out of
the step assembly. |
- Remove the plastic step pads if required by breaking the plastic
pad from the assist step assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install new plastic step
pads to the assist step assembly by pressing the new pad into place.
- Install the plastic end cap to the assist step assembly.
2.1. | Install the plastic end cap by pressing the cap straight into
the assist step assembly. |
2.2. | Install 3 screws into the step assembly. |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the assist
step assembly to the mounting brackets with 3 U-bolts and 6 nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the step assembly nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
