For 1990-2009 cars only
- Apply a 5 mm (0.193 in) diameter bead of GM P/N United States 12346286, GM P/N Canada 10953472, or equivalent, to the oil pan side sealing flanges.
- Apply GM P/N United States 12346286, GM P/N Canada 10953472, or equivalent, to the oil pan surface that contacts the engine front cover.
- Apply a small amount of GM P/N United States 12346286, GM P/N Canada 10953472, or equivalent, to the new oil pan rear seal ears prior to installing the oil pan rear seal into the bearing cap groove.
- Install the new oil pan rear seal.
- Install the oil pan.
- Install the oil pan nuts.
- Install the oil pan bolts.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the oil pan nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the oil pan bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
