Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 182901  Size: SH
  1. Remove the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .
  2. Important: Be sure that valve train components are kept together and identified so that they can be installed in their original location.

  3. Remove the rocker arm assemblies.

  4. Object Number: 182896  Size: SH
  5. Remove the pushrods.
  6. Clean and inspect all parts. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 182896  Size: SH

    Important: When you install new rocker arms, lubricate the pivot bearing valve tips, and push rod sockets of the rocker arms with engine assembly prelube GM P/N 1052367 (Canadian  P/N 992869).

  1. Install the pushrods.
  2. Ensure that the pushrods seat in the lifters.

  3. Install the rocker arms.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Do not over tighten the rocker arm bolts.

  5. Ensure that the locating tab on the rocker pivot is properly aligned with the notch in the cylinder head.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the rocker arm bolts to 25 N·m (19 lb ft).

  7. Install the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .
