WIND RUSH NOISE FROM DASH WITH MAXIMUM A/C ON

SUBJECT: WIND RUSH NOISE FROM RIGHT SIDE DASH WITH MAXIMUM A/C ON AND LOW BLOWER SPEED (REPLACE AIR INLET ASSEMBLY AND GASKET)

MODELS: 1995-96 CHEVROLET AND GMC S/T MODELS 1996 OLDSMOBILE BRAVADA WITH AIR CONDITIONING

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT ABOUT A WIND RUSH TYPE NOISE FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DASH WHEN THE A/C CONTROL IS AT THE MAXIMUM POSITION AND THE FAN BLOWER CONTROL IS ON LOW SPEED. THE NOISE WILL USUALLY START AT ABOUT 35 MPH (57 KPH) AND GET LOUDER AS VEHICLE SPEED INCREASES.

CAUSE:

THE AIR INLET ASSEMBLY DOOR IS NOT SEALING PROPERLY.

CORRECTION:

VERIFY THE RECIRCULATION DOOR ACTUATOR IS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. REPLACE THE AIR INLET ASSEMBLY AND GASKET PER THE APPLICABLE S/T TRUCK SERVICE MANUAL, SECTION 1A.
