Temporarily move the ignition switch to the START position while measuring the voltage between the negative battery terminal and the engine block.

Is the voltage reading less than the specified value?

0.5 V

Go to Step 5

Temporarily move the ignition switch to the START position while measuring the voltage between the starter solenoid terminal B and the RED (32) wire (2.2L) or the RED (19) wire (4.3L) at the battery.

Is the voltage reading more than the specified value?

0.5 V

Go to Step 7

Replace the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Cable .

Is the replacement complete?

Repair the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement .
