Was the Horns System Check Performed?

  1. Remove the horn relay.
  2. Using the J 35616 , connect a test lamp to ground.
  3. Probe terminal 1 and terminal 5 at the UBEC.

Does the test lamp light at both positions?

Go to Step 3

  1. Using the J 35616 , connect a test lamp between terminal 1 and terminal 2 in the UBEC (horn relay).
  2. Press the horn switch.

Does the test lamp light?

Replace the underhood bussed electrical center (UBEC).

Is the repair complete?

Using the J 35616 , connect a jumper between UBEC terminal 3 and terminal 5 at the horn relay.

Does the horn sound?

Replace the horn relay. Refer to Horn Relay Replacement .

Is the HORN fuse open?

  1. Disconnect one horn.
  2. Using the J 35616 , construct jumper leads in order to allow the J 39200 Digital Multimeter (DMM) access to terminal A and terminal B of the horn.
  3. Using the J 39200 DMM, measure the voltage drop across terminal A and terminal B at the horn.
  4. Install a jumper between UBEC terminal 3 and terminal 5 of the horn relay.

Is battery voltage measured?

Do not remove the jumper leads from horn terminal A and terminal B.

Using the fused jumper to B+, probe terminal B at the horn.

Does the horn sound?

Inspect for an open or high resistance in CKT 1329 between terminal B of the horn and UBEC connector C4 terminal A6.

Was an open or high resistance condition found?

Inspect for opens or high resistance conditions in ground CKT 150 or CKT 250.

  1. Install the horn relay.
  2. Perform the BCM System Check. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Body Control System .

Backprobe C211 terminal A11 using a jumper lead connected to ground.

Repair the open or high resistance in CKT 28 from C211 terminal A11 through the horn switch.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect for an open or high resistance in CKT 28 from C211 terminal A11 to UBEC connector C1 terminal E3.

Is the circuit OK?
