Test for leak points if water has leaked into the interior. Mark the location of any leaks.

Water which appears at a certain place inside of the body may actually be entering from another point.

It may be necessary to remove the following components in order to backtrack the path of the water to the point of entry:

    • Floor mats
    • Insulation
    • Instrument panel

If the point of entry is still not found, perform the following procedures:

    • Close all the windows.
    • Close all the vents.
    • Cover the air pressure relief valve.
    • Place the air control knob in position in order to use outside air.
    • Turn the fan control knob to the HI position.
    • Close the doors.
    • Run a small stream of water over the area suspected of leaking.
    • Check for bubbles, which indicate that air is escaping from the interior.

Corrective Measures

Use an air drying, flexible body sealing compound to seal the area if the leak is around body panels. Check that the door is contacting the weatherstrip correctly if the leak is around a door. Ensure that the weatherstrip is not damaged and is properly seated on the opening flange. Replace the weatherstrip if the weatherstrip is damaged.
