The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

Vehicle leans to the left or left side of the vehicle is lower than the right side.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The following steps should be performed when diagnosing a lean to the left condition:

  1. Make sure no mud is packed in the wheel wells.
  2. Check the tire pressure and set to the spec on the door sticker.
  3. Obtain a level area for taking the measurements.
  4. Measure the Z and D heights, left and right side as described in the Service Information.
  5. Measure the center of all four wheel wells to ground.
  6. If the Z and D heights are within service manual specs (within 5MM side to side) and the wheel wells measure over 1/2 inch difference side to side, shim the body and bed mounts to get the wheel wells within 1/2 inch. (1/2 inch or less side to side difference on wheel wells is acceptable).
  7. If the Z heights are out of spec or more than 5MM difference inspect the coil springs for proper installation, damage...etc.
  8. If the coil springs appear to be O.K., remove coil springs and stand on bench to measure free height. Reinstall coil springs with the largest free height on the side with the lowest Z height. This procedure should only be performed if the Z height is out of spec or more than 5MM difference side to side.
  9. If the Z height is still more than 5MM side to side install no more than 2 spring insulator (P/N 15597425) in the lower control arm pocket on the side with the lowest Z height.
  10. If the D heights are out of spec or over 5MM side to side another possibility would be to swap the rear springs side to side.

.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
