Test Description

The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.

  1. Tests the operation of the headlamp washer pump relay and circuits. If the test lamp illuminates for a few seconds the washer pump is faulty.

    2.

  2. Tests the battery positive voltage supply circuit to the headlamp washer pump relay.

    3.

  3. Tests the washer pump control circuit to the headlamp washer pump relay.

    4.

  4. Tests the front park lamp supply circuit to the headlamp washer pump relay.

DEFINITION: The headlamp washers are inoperative, the windshield washers, and front park lamps operate normal.

  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. Turn the headlamps on.
  3. Press the windshield washer switch.

Do the headlamp washers operate normal?

  1. Disconnect the headlamp washer pump connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp across the harness connector terminals.
  3. Turn the ignition on.
  4. Turn the headlamps on.
  5. Press the windshield washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the headlamp washer pump relay.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the battery positive voltage supply circuit terminal to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp from the windshield washer pump control circuit terminal to ground.
  2. Turn the ignition on.
  3. Press the windshield washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp from the front park lamp supply circuit terminal to ground.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch on.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp from battery positive voltage to the headlamp washer pump relay ground circuit terminal.
