Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L.

  2. Object Number: 928982  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor wire (1) from the radiator support retainer clip.
  4. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose assembly from the radiator support tabs.

  5. Object Number: 928973  Size: SH
  6. Remove the radiator support bolts.
  7. Important: Note the position of the radiator support in relationship to the fan shroud. This must be reassembled correctly in order to retain the fan shroud.

  8. Remove the radiator support.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Position the radiator support in the correct relationship to the fan shroud.

  1. Install the radiator support.

  2. Object Number: 928973  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the radiator support bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  5. Connect the surge tank inlet hose assembly to the radiator support tabs.

  7. Connect MAF sensor wire (1) to the radiator support retainer clip.
  8. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L.
