J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
3. Remove the I/P carrier support. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Support Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
4. Remove the defroster duct. Refer to Windshield Defroster Duct Replacement .
5. Remove the air outlet ducts. Refer to Instrument Panel Air Outlet Ducts Replacement .
6. Remove the air distributor duct. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement .



7. Disconnect the electrical connections for the blower motor (1) and the actuators (2).



8. Remove the 4 HVAC module nuts (1) and bolts (2) from the mounting points (3).
9. Remove the HVAC module assembly (4) from the I/P retainer (5).

1. If replacing the HVAC module assembly, transfer the components from the old HVAC module assembly as necessary.
2. Install the HVAC module assembly (4) to the I/P retainer (5).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

3. Install the 4 retaining bolts (2) and nuts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 8 N·m (70 lb in).




4. Reconnect the electrical connections for the blower motor (1) and the actuators (2).
5. Install the air distributor duct. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement .
6. Install the air outlet ducts. Refer to Instrument Panel Air Outlet Ducts Replacement .
7. Install the defroster duct. Refer to Windshield Defroster Duct Replacement .
8. Install the I/P carrier support into the vehicle. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Support Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
9. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
10. Leak test the fittings using J 39400-A .
11. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
