Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Hood Hold-Open Device Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Open the rear compartment lid.

    2. Notice: Apply pressure only at the end of the liftgate/hood assist rod that you are removing or attaching. Do NOT apply pressure to the middle of the rod because damage or bending will result.

  2. Support the rear compartment lid.

    3. Object Number: 1273194 Size: SH
  3. Carefully pry the retaining clip in order to remove the lower end of the rear compartment assist rod from the ball stud on the rear compartment lid hinge.

    4. Object Number: 1273195 Size: SH
  4. Carefully pry the retaining clip in order to remove the upper end of the rear compartment assist rod from the ball stud on the rear compartment lid.
  5. Remove the rear compartment assist rod from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the rear compartment assist rod to the vehicle ball studs.

    2. Object Number: 1273195 Size: SH
  2. Install the retaining clip in order to install the upper end of the rear compartment assist rod to the ball stud on the rear compartment lid.

    3. Object Number: 1273194 Size: SH
  3. Install the retaining clip in order to install the lower end of the rear compartment assist rod to the ball stud on the rear compartment lid hinge.
  4. Remove the support.
  5. Close the rear compartment lid.
