When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
Shifter knob loose or shifter button has to be pushed down into knob to shift vehicle into gear.
If the shifter knob is loose, position the shift knob in the correct location and tighten set screw to specification. If the shift button has to be pushed down into the shifter knob rather than flush with the top of the shifter knob, loosen the set screw, position the shifter knob in the correct location, and then tighten the set screw to specification. Refer to document ID number 871535 for specifications and set screw location.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
