Subject: | No Heat or Erratic HVAC Controls (Recalibrate HVAC Door Actuators) |
Models: | 2003-2004 Chevrolet SSR |
Some customers may comment on no heat or erratic operation of the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) controls.
This condition may be caused by a loss of calibration of the actuators for the HVAC air temperature, mode and recirculation doors. The loss of calibration may be caused by a low battery voltage condition or if battery power is removed from the HVAC control module.
Technicians are to recalibrate the HVAC air temperature, mode and recirculation door actuators using the Re-Calibrating Actuators procedure in SI (Document ID #1236623). If the condition is still present, replace the HVAC control module. The new HVAC control module will perform a recalibration of the actuators automatically after the ignition key is turned to the RUN position. Refer to the HVAC Control Module Replacement procedure in SI (Document ID #1343409) for more information about the recalibration procedure.
