Subject: | Shifter Knob Loose, Hard to Shift, Shifter Inoperative (Position Shifter Knob to Correct Location) |
Models: | 2003-2004 Chevrolet SSR |
Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions:
• | The shifter knob is loose. |
• | Hard to shift vehicle into gear, requires shifter button to be pushed down below knob. |
• | The shifter will not shift into gear. |
The cause of these conditions may be due to the shifter knob not being fully seated onto the shaft.
If the shifter knob is loose, tighten the set screw to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).
If the shifter button has to be pushed down into the knob rather than flush with the top of the knob or shifter will not shift, remove the set screw, align the hole in the knob with the hole in the shaft, install the set screw and tighten the set screw to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).
