The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms in the PI.

The park brake may not release after apply. The park brake handle assembly is rubbing/contacting the metal end of the cable that snaps into the bracket that holds the cable in place, causing the park brake not to release.

On trucks built prior to VIN break 4B107229, check for the park brake cable metal end contacting the park brake handle assembly. If the cable is contacting the park brake handle assembly, then shim the park brake handle assembly up by installing about a 3/8 inch shim or washer in-between the park brake handle assembly and the mounting bracket at all four mounting bolts.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
