Subject:Tire Vibration at Highway Speeds

Models:2003-2005 Chevrolet SSR

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

A vibration may be felt in the steering and/or body at highway speeds. This usually happens after the vehicle sits for a period of time and the tires cool down. The tires may develop a flat spot until the vehicle is driven and the tires warm up.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Prior to making any repairs for a tire vibration concern, test drive the vehicle for approximately 10 miles to make sure that the tires are warmed up. If the vibration is gone after the tires are warmed up, DO NOT make any repairs. This is a characteristic for this vehicle and these tires. If you still have a vibration follow SI Document ID # 663404 Diagnostic Starting Point - Vibration Diagnosis and Correction

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
