The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
A customer may comment that any one of the switches on the center console shifter trim plate are inoperative. This may be due to dirty or contaminated switch contacts.
Prior to replacing the shifter trim plate switch assembly try to clean the switch contacts by following the instructions below:
Remove the shifter trim plate switch assembly by following the instructions in SI for "Side Window and Multifunction Switch Replacement".
With the rubber switch membrane removed, use an eraser to clean all of the switch contacts on both the circuit board and the back side of the rubber switch membrane (See picture above). After cleaning the switch contacts, reassemble the switch and then check the operation of the switches.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
