Removal Procedure
Important: Clean all the fuel pipe connections and surrounding
areas before disconnecting the pipes in order to avoid possible contamination of the
fuel system.
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the
Fuel Pressure Relief
.
- Disconnect the fuel feed (1) from the fuel rail. Refer to
Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
.
- Cap the fuel rail pipes.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the fuel pipe bracket nut (2).
- Remove the fuel pipe bracket from the bellhousing stud.
- Remove the fuel lines from the retaining clips (1)
on the transmission.
- Disconnect the fuel feed line from the rear fuel feed
line. Refer to
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
.
- Disconnect the fuel line from the fuel filter. Refer to
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
.
- Cap the rear fuel lines.
- Remove the fuel line bundle.
Important: Note the position of the fuel bundle clips
prior to disassembly.
- Remove the fuel line bundle retaining clips.
- Remove the fuel feed and/or evaporative emission (EVAP) pipe to be replaced.
Installation Procedure
- Install the fuel feed and/or EVAP pipe that was to
be replaced.
- Install the fuel line bundle retaining clips.
- Install the fuel line bundle.
- Cap the rear fuel lines.
- Connect the fuel line to the fuel filter. Refer to
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
.
- Connect the fuel feed line to the rear fuel feed line. Refer
to
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
.
- Install the fuel lines to the retaining clips (1)
on the transmission.
- Install the fuel pipe bracket to the bellhousing stud.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the fuel pipe bracket nut (2).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the caps from the fuel rail pipes.
- Connect the fuel feed pipe (1) to the fuel rail. Refer to
Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
.
- Install the fuel fill cap.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Use the following procedure in order to inspect for leaks:
15.1. | Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF, for 2 seconds. |
15.2. | Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds. |
15.3. | Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF. |
15.4. | Inspect for fuel leaks. |
